Hi my name is Yvonne stone I am the founder of Green Days Day Care. I have worked with people with learning difficulties for 30 years in various areas, carrying out my nurse training. Richard

Hi I’m Richard. I have worked in health and social care for 17 years in various roles. I started out working as a sports and leisure assistant for 3 years. Within the 3 years I was promoted to manager. This is where I realised I was good at working with people and could help them in many different ways. I then went on to work for the youth offending team as a mentor. After this I worked as a youth support worker for several years in the evenings whilst also working at south Devon college as a SEN support worker. I then went on to work for Devon school ( school for special educational needs and/emotional social behavioural difficulties.  My role was behaviour manager, PE teacher and activities co-ordination and I charge or running a team of LSA’s, TA,s and residential care workers. After roughly 4 years in that role I then due to family circumstances (daughter being born) transferred to residential child care as a team leader. I continue to do this job but now on a bank staff basis due to the fact I am in my final year at University and now working for Green Days. I love most sports and outdoor activities but above all helping people is my main passion.

I have several qualifications. Public service level 2 diploma, Youth work diploma, health and social care level 3 diploma, social science level 3 diploma, Psychology foundation degree and currently finishing a Hons in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. Amongst other short and professional development courses. Greendays is a very special place to work for. Staff and clients are amazing. It truly is like one big happy family. The staff help and support the clients and take on board what the clients need and expect and then implement the change accordingly. Within Greendays our clients really have a voice and listened too. Greendays helps clients to tackle daily issues and provides a place where they can thrive, build confidence and learn important life skills. But most of all, Greendays is a place where our clients can socialise, make life long friends and have an opportunity to connect with the world in a way some may have once thought impossible. I am proud to be a member of this team.

I am married and have 4 children and a grandson and love to spend my time with them. We spend a lot of time outside enjoying National Trust properties and walks along the beach. In my spare time I enjoy running and I love to read to relax.

I really enjoy the varied things we do at Greendays. The money course where we are teaching the different values and denominations of coins has been really rewarding and the guys seem to have picked it up really well. The cooking group is also great as it’s good to see everyone so involved especially when they get to eat what they have been preparing.

My background is in working with adults with disabilities in both day centres and residential care. I also worked for Somerset country council for 10 years previous to my time at Green Days.

I enjoy being outside, in my job I get the best of both worlds as I get to incorporate being outdoors and supporting service users. I am a driver of the minibuses at Green Days, this gives me the flexibility to be able to take the service users to different venues to explore.
