On Saturday the 4th November we created history at Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival.
This wouldn’t have been possible without the wonderful Creative Ways Outdoors our fantastic staff team, some brilliant volunteers, and of course our absolutely amazing service users. The streets of Bridgwater welcomed us with open arms and in return we provided them with a show, smiles and lots of happiness. We have created memories that will last a lifetime for everybody. We are so proud and every time we talk about it we get emotional because of what it means.
At Green Days we believe that there really are no walls when it comes to care. And if we can facilitate it safely we will do it. Something that many may have said wasn’t possible. But there’s no such thing as impossible when you have passion and courage that we do.
From the second we took on this challenge we knew it wasn’t going to be easy. We had a few out-of-hours Monday nights where staff and volunteers prepped the materials for the service users to create their costumes. We had lots of meetings where everyone was involved to talk about ideas and hiccups we may face. But in 6 weeks we created the most beautiful and natural procession supported with some fantastic music by Street Heat for the carnival where the guys could feel comfortable and flourish.
